第1句
First of all, let’s make a rollcall before we put the draft resolution to vote.
讓我們首先點點名，然后我們把決議付諸表決。
這里的“before”就翻譯成“然后”，這樣就不用改變原句的語序了。
第2句
We should discuss the problem at hand in detail after we had our dinner.

這里的“after”就翻成“在那以前”，這樣我們也不用改變原句的語序。所以有人戲稱同傳就是把before譯成after，把after譯成before。
第3句
My delegation commends the international community for its contribution in searching for solutions to the problems of terrorism and conflict in Africa.
我國代表團贊揚國際社會積極致力于尋求解決非洲恐怖主義和沖突問題的辦法。
“contribution, searching, solution”都是名詞，翻譯時都變成動詞“積極致力于、尋求、解決”。英語的名詞變成中文的動詞，這樣—來很多句子都可以順下來。請大家記住，同傳的要領就是盡量不要改變語序，能夠順著來就順著來，這樣就能省下不少精力，這些精力可以放在最最難對付的問題上。
第4句
The UN is an indispensable vehicle for the preservation of civilization in the interest of all nations of the world.
聯合國是一個不可缺少的工具，以維護文明，造福于各國人民。
把介詞短語“in the interest of”變成動詞“造福于”。
第5句
In this regard, we support the movement towards renewal and restructuring away from the static stereotypes of the past.
在這方面，我們支持進行更新和改組，擺脫過去那些僵硬的一成不變的做法。
“movement”及“away from”分別變成了動詞“進行”和“擺脫”，避免了原句語序的改變。
第6句
I believe this can contribute to (have a positive impact on) the fixture relations between the developed and the developing countries.
我認為這將有助于(積極影響)今后發展中國家與發達國家的關系。
第7句
Well, today in China, the reality of more small enterprises doing a thriving business, more families profiting from their own hard work and the bigger harvests they produce, and more investment in science and technology points to more opportunity for all.
這句話取自羅納德·里根訪問中國時發表的講話。假如你是一名同聲傳譯，當他講到 “Well, today in China, the reality of more small enterprises doing a thriving business”你就得開口了，不能再等。這個短語到目前為止意義已比較明顯，所以你可以把它變成一個句子，放心地翻譯為“今天中國很多小企業生意興旺”。然后他繼續講“more families profiting from their own hardwork...”，于是又可以變成一個句子，翻譯為“越來越多的家庭勤勞致富……”。然后他講“points to more opportunity for all”，你還記得腦里存著的“the relation of”，可以概括一下，用“所有這一切”從而很好地結束這句話，所有這—切說明更多的人有更多的機會。這句話筆譯是需要仔細琢磨的，需要思考怎么調整語序，而同傳逼得你一定要一邊聽一邊解決難點。
第8句
We noted the secretary general’s view that any sizable of reduction of the peacekeeping force would be inadvisable at this stage.
我們注意到秘書長的觀點，他認為現在要大大削減維和部隊是不合適的。
同傳需要句子簡潔，不能啰嗦，在翻譯“that”引導的從句時直接變成“他認為”，使譯文顯得干凈利索。
第9句
We have all noted the secretary general’s report on the increasingly perilous state of financing.
我們都已經注意到秘書長的報告說財政情況日益拮據。
